On 18 June 2026, the District Commissioner of Tamulpur, Smti. Simi Karan, IAS; Assistant Commissioner, Pragya Laskar, ACS; and Panchi Barhai, AEE, PHED, Tamulpur, visited the site of the diversion-based irrigation system and drinking water facility system in the GVM intervention area of Baksa District to get a glimpse of the development activities of GVM. They were accompanied by Abhijit Gorai from the Bharat Rural Livelihood Foundation and GVM volunteers.
The sites have been implemented under the Holistic Rural Development Programme (HRDP) with support from HDFC Bank. During the visit, they interacted with the local community to understand the pre-intervention scenario, challenges faced during implementation, community participation, and the sustainability plan of the initiative.
The team also visited the HDFC Bank-supported weaving centre at Dhansripur village in Baksa District, where they interacted with the weavers and got a glimpse of the weaving work.
