The President of Gramya Vikash Mancha (GVM) Mr. Prithibhusan Deka along with members of the GVM team, is currently visiting flood-affected villages across Sivasagar and Charaideo districts to assess the situation, understand the needs of affected communities, and identify priorities for rehabilitation and recovery interventions.
Through direct engagement with communities, GVM is working to understand the challenges faced by families and explore appropriate measures to support their recovery, restoration of livelihoods, and long-term resilience.
From essential supplies and clean drinking water to hygiene support and WASH awareness, our volunteers are reaching families, listening to their needs, and extending support wherever it is needed most.

Recently, a senior GVM volunteer conducted a WASH awareness session with a women’s group in Hulang Katoni Village. The session highlighted the increased health risks that often arise after floods, particularly for women and children, and emphasized the importance of maintaining proper hygiene and sanitation to prevent waterborne diseases.
The awareness session covered practical WASH practices, including:
- Safe drinking water
- Proper handwashing
- Improved sanitation
- Safe waste disposal
- Personal hygiene
Through relief assistance, hygiene promotion, and community awareness, GVM remains committed to helping flood-affected families recover with dignity while building healthier and more resilient communities.
